WISER Public Forum
WISER (Western Indiana Sustainable Energy Resource), a BioTown™ USA educational initiative, will hold our next Public Forum in September 2011. Mark your calendar for the fourth Wednesday of each month at 1:00 p.m. EST to join us for information packed seminars on emerging renewable energy technologies and systems operating in our region today. The Public Forums provide business, industry and consumers an opportunity to connect with others interested in the renewable energy industry. Check back often to learn about our next topic of discussion. The information below describes some of our past Forum topics.
June 2011 - Scott Zigmond, Vice President of Sales & Marketing with Performance Services, provided an update on the Purdue Energy Park. A unique public-private partnership that integrates a 100 Megawatt wind farm with the capability of conducting research and development right on site.
April 2011 - Brian Furrer, President of BioTown™ Ag, will explain the BioTown™ USA concept and the evolution of the digester project. The Public Forum will end with a tour of BioTown™ Ag's Anaerobic Digester and the cattle lot.
March 2011 - A panel of 'utility experts' shared information on their company's green initiatves, energy efficiency programs, and discussed how a consumer might produce their own renewable energy and put it on the system. Representavies from Duke Energy, Indiana Municipal Power Agency and NIPSCO were on hand to answer questions regarding consumer-produced renewable energy and how to connect to the utility system.
January 2011 - Dr. Maureen McCann, Director of the Energy Center at Discovery Park and Professor at Purdue University, presented information on the economic impact of sustainable energy for the Western Indiana Region.
